Chocolate is most famous desert or candy among all ages from child to old man. Chocolate is a Spanish word. Chocolate means “A food preparation in the form of a paste or solid block made from roasted and ground cacao seeds, typically sweetened”.
There are different forms and varieties of chocolates, it is also used as chocolate syrup, nut chocolates, wine chocolates, dark chocolates, mild chocolates, cooking chocolates, black chocolates, white chocolates, chocolate flakes, chocolate chips and so on. These chocolates are used in many deserts and cakes like brownies, chocolate cakes, donuts, chocolate moose, chocolate fudge, icecreams, coffee, shakes and many more.
These are very tempting to eat, it’s usage is being increased day by day. There are some positive aspects on health and some are negative aspects on health some of them are as followed.
Positive:
- Dark chocolate may lower cholesterol levels in adults.
- Cocoa or dark chocolate may positively affect the circulatory system.
- Chocolate may boost cognitive abilities.
- Chocolate can help to reduce the risk of certain cardiovascular problems.
- Chocolate can help to reduce blood pressure in both overweight and normal adults.
- Chocolate consumption correlates with lower Body Mass Index.
- Other possible effects include anticancer, cough preventor, brain stimulator and anti-diarrhoeal activities.
Negative:
- Chocolate is believed to cause heartburn
- Chocolate and cocoa contain moderate to high amounts of oxalate, which can cause some health concerns particularly for individuals at risk for kidney stones.
- The unconstrained consumption of large quantities of any energy-rich food, such as chocolate, without a corresponding increase in activity, is thought to increase the risk of obesity.
- Raw chocolate is high in cocoa butter, Manufacturers may add other fats, sugars, and milk as well, all of which increase the caloric content of chocolate.
- In elder people showed chocolate might cause osteoporosis.
- A few studies have documented allergic reactions with chocolate in children.
- There is some evidence that chocolate may be addictive.
